The recently popularized term “virtue signaling” would seem to be as good an answer as any.
They don’t “adopt” - they “accessorize”.
It’s messed up. I seem to remember that Madonna was on that kick for awhile and the African country that she kept adopting kids from finally told her to stop. Homos are the weirdest and most damaging but hetero celebrities are a real close second.
