Fellow Democrats tell embattled Congresswoman Esty to resign

HARTFORD, Conn. — Some Connecticut Democrats are calling for their embattled colleague U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty to step down for not protecting female staffers who say they experienced violence, death threats and sexual harassment by her former chief of staff.

Esty is an outspoken advocate for the #MeToo movement. She has apologized for not protecting the staffers in her Washington office but has dismissed calls for her to resign.

Former Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz (BY'-suh-wits) says the "emerging story regarding battery, harassment and threatening" from Esty's ex-chief of staff and Esty's handling of the response are "very troubling." She said Saturday, "Congresswoman Esty must step down from her position."

Senate President Martin M. Looney says if recent news stories are true "Congresswoman Esty should do the right thing and resign."

No matter who holds a CT House seat: the person will be on automatic pilot for every liberal program put forward.

Esty worked for Planned Parenthood. That makes her immune from prosecution for any crime.

Action she should take is putting a paper bag over her head.

All of this is so transparent and insincere. They don't care about her staffers or harassment. They care about being hurt politically by being tied to her. I don't remember this kind of response about the Clintons..

One lesson CT Democrats have learned from the Hillary debacle is to shiv each other in the back when the going gets tough.

They are very good at it!

“No matter who holds a CT House seat: the person will be on automatic pilot for every liberal program put forward.”

This is why she is a perfect sacrifice. Losing her means nothing to the party. But, if the Democrats want the moral high ground so they can attack Trump for being 12% as bad as Bill Clinton, this sacrifice is necessary. They are probably looking all over for similar sacrifices.

Frankly, I grew cynical about three minutes into the #metoo movement.

Hmmm... Maybe the Republicans can take her seat in 2018, since the 5th CD is northwestern CT, the part that Trump won...

Virtue signaling convinces the left of its own unimpeachable morals. When push comes to shove, it rejects guilt for any of its wrongdoing and attributes such allegations to conspiracy theories. -- How Democrats Suppressed the #MeToo Movement in the Party | FrontPage | April 27, 2018 | Daniel Greenfield
