A jury has acquitted the girlfriend of Philando Castile of serious charges in an assault on a woman last year.
Jurors on Friday acquitted 28-year-old Diamond Reynolds of felony second-degree and third-degree assault. Reynolds was convicted of misdemeanor fifth-degree assault, a count that was added at the end of her weeklong trial.

If Philando was such a thug, how come he made it into his 30s holding a steady job and having no violence or larceny on his record?

“Yanez’s defense lawyers pointed to Castile’s previous drug use when arguing their case.
“None of this would have happened but for Philando Castile,” defense attorney Earl Gray said. “[Yanez] sees the gun and [Castile] doesn’t follow orders. That’s enough to pull your gun out and end the threat.”
Castile told Yanez he had a gun. He was not hiding anything. He was trying to comply with the cop’s orders to present his ID. If Castle was such a dangerous fellow, how come no other policeman had seen fit to shoot him in Philando’s 15 years of adulthood?
