I'm feeling like hearing some interesting music that I've never heard before, so I thought I'd start a thread on FReeper's favorite underrated bands. Post several good examples of their music and why you feel they're underrated. Should be fun.
Well, toss some of them out, I’m sure they have a presence on Vevo or YouTube. Love to hear good new music.

Government Mule is good, they more than do justice to any cover.
Steve Forbert
The Zombies - “She’s Not There”
Crowded House - “Don’t Dream It’s Over”
I liked the Gin Blossoms - kinda of a more bar band/rock sound vs REM.
Their song “I Found Out About You” was VERY good with some tasty lead guitar...and it hit REAL close to my heart. Nice video, too. “Allison Road” was another good song.
I think I have their “Hits” CD somewhere around here - gotta find it and re-discover their songs.
Kinda punkabilly, I like. But then I always did like LA punk and it ran that way.
Now that you mentioned Crowded House....
Split Enz - I Got You
