I would hardly call it a sin, but it is a "bending" of the rules that can lead to other abominations. To be avoided if able.
Just know this. It's just a couple of flicks of the wrist between ice cream in milk and a milk shake. And any flavor is condoned by the gods for a milkshake. Even, eww? chocalate chip or any coffee inspired ice cream, which are of the devil.
