Maybe they experienced significant things in connection with their relationship to God.

Maybe their God-given vocation was to be a husband and father, to raise good kids, and then to be a grandfather. Maybe they did a very good job of that, and have already heard Our Lord’s voice saying, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

I understand what you are writing. But these people were miserable.

They lived in the same place for almost 90 years. They worked the same jobs for 50 years.

Really— there were few experiences of joy in their lives.
