Trump is a New Yorker with an attitude, so his appeal to middle America has been fascinating to watch.
However he has gone through a major change of character that seems much deeper than any politician changing their tone for the cameras.
Character matter so much that I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt regarding past sins, and look closely at his current actions.

Behavior, not Character. He doesn’t speak the same as he used to, but his character is still NYC. Gun rights and breaking promises about the US economy in the toilet because of legislation that his friends actually wrote.
He “was” friends with the lefties, but we have no actual proof that he’s still not friends with them or if he’s even taking an 8 year break.
