Alright, I’ll keep an eye out for a 4K player that handles both Blu-Ray and DVDs.

You need not fret. If it’s a 4K player it WILL play regular DVDs and Blu-ray discs :-)

And most likely a 4K player will do a decent job of upscaling regular DVDs. It won’t look as deep as Blu but it’ll still be pretty good.
