Back in far more sane times, California honored Nikola Tesla by naming an entire town for him! It was a coal mining town in eastern Alameda County, California, 12 miles southeast of Livermore, CA on Tesla Road. Founded in 1890 by John Treadwell, the Tesla coal mines were the largest coal producer in California for nearly a decade starting in 1897.
Modern California names uber-expesive electric car playthings for the rich after the same man.
Here's to COAL and Nikola Tesla -- the mineral and man who made all modern life possible.
