Wrong Mary
Bloody Mary is who youre thinking of
The last catholic monarch essentially with any authority to speak of hence Bloody Mary
This Mary begat the Stuarts through her gay boy Jimmy First after Lizzie died
Bloody Mary half sister of Prod Lizzie
Scot Mary first cousin once removed of Lizzie
Tudorto Stuart
Nice and bloody
And toss in Protestant versus Roman for more fun
Well, I guess this topic was likely to trigger some sectarian turmoil. :^)
I thought she looked like this;

He would try, but he'd find two or three dead hands stuck in her *****. /rimshot!.
The day that MQoS was executed, Elizabeth shut herself up in her bedchamber, but her unstrung weeping could be heard through the doors.
Oh my goodness, those pics are paintings...no real cameras in Mary Queen of Scots time! You are too much!
Yeah, Very possible.
I wouldn’t want to be the person to tell Henry VIII that his daughter died while in my care. The whole family would have been hung, drawn and quartered.
Explains why Liz I never married at a time when royalty was married off young.
She also used some very telling words at different times.
As well the 1580-1590 portrait definitely looks like and old cross dresser.
Those crazy Brits, what are we going to find out next?

How Mary Queen of Scots Could Have Kept Her Throne

I wonder if Lazamataz would ‘hit it’?
Lord Darnley was a Stuart, that was her first husband whom she had strangled.
I first read about it circa 40-45 years ago, in an old National Geographic, possibly in the collection "This England". :^)
Wrong Mary.
My understanding of why Elizabeth never married is she finally concluded that whoever she married would ingratiate her with his faction but make enemies of all the others. Similar to the troubles Mary had in Scotland.
They found his grave. He had a severely curved spin.
Just a thought, wondering if their “Virgin Queen” is where Merry Ol England developed It’s penchant for buggery? =-O
Do you have a ping list for these history/anthropology/whatever posts?
If you do please add me.
You drag up some interesting stuff.
Though I have no training in it I love all types of history.
“1st Brexit.”
Good point!
Both he and his wife Mary QOS were grandchildren of Margaret Tudor
Determined mom of Henry VII
And wife of Edmund killed in war of the roses sort as a prisoner
Margaret a child herself at 13 and seven months pregnant ....may have been impregnated just prior to her 13 birthday by Edmund in their arranged marriage
Its debated her birth year...
What a crew of intrigue that bunch and even though the wives created both lines they carry the dead husbands name as dynasty we recall now
Tudors and Stewart-Stuart
I thought Bothwell Mary’s second tadpole donor was the bomber slash strangler
Darnley.....not a beloved rake....many people wanted him dead.
A murderer himself
Was James I really his ?
Or that Italian guy
All that intrigue cost her the Scots throne but led to her as matriarch of the Stuarts after the death of her cousin we all venerate ....the virgin..meh....who had her head removed
You cant make this stuff up can u
Hard to know whose propaganda prevailed.
William Harrison is thought to be the most accurate historian during Elizabethan times. In his “ The Description of England” (1577) he describes how Henry was very severe in dealing with infractions of the law.
The Tudors seem to have gave out the death penalty for dang near everything including stealing, forgery, and witchcraft!
This was interesting (and gruesome! Hanging, pressing beheading, boiling and burning. Treason got you drawn and quartered.)
Of Sundry Kinds of Punishment Appointed for Offenders
