I’m generally not fond of Russians. They’re an arrogant, mendacious, and brutal people who have at various times throughout history have caused not only themselves but Europe, and a good part of the rest of the world no small amount of grief.
Cool article. Thanks for sharing!
I am awed by the scope of that war. I used to think I knew a lot about it, but now I have given up.
The winter 42-43 counterattacks and counterpunching the Germans did on the Russian front stopped the Red Army dead in its tracks, and retook ground, driving back, right when a full breakdown of the Germans was expected. And of course, Hitler ignored the recommendation that the Kursk salient be broken at that time (or better yet, ignored), waiting instead to allow the Red Army to build defense at great depth, and to top it off, go to the front to direct the battle in person, oh, and at the last minute transferring three divisions to Italy. Von Manstein wrote that Hitler refused to allow the knockout punch using the reserves withheld for just that stroke. We were all very lucky that the Turd Reich had an incompetent military dictator.
Here’s the link to display the whole works on one page.
I have actually found Russian Jewish immigrants to be nicer than the "natives" overall here (MA), many of whom looked to Obama as Russians do to Putin. But there is room at the cross for all who come to Him in repentant faith for salvation. Thanks be to God.
Superb. Thanks much for posting.
Gog and Magog
Indeed.
Set it aside, finally read it. Great story.
Kind of OT but I found this on twitter from the British Tank Museum.
