Hatred taken up and continued by modern muslims.

This is a concept I’ve struggled with for a long time but haven’t really come to a clear understanding of so I’m hoping to not appear even more foolish than usual.
I read in my youth Primo Levi’s book on his Auschwitz experiences and one thing he mentions is that the Nazis didn’t show hatred or anger when they mistreated or abused the prisoners. It was done with casual indifference and detachment which he found even more frightening.
My point is that use of the word hate is not merely trite, it might actually be misleading.
Now Muslims, OTOH, are definitely motivated by a visceral hatred that will cause them to destroy themselves in the attempt to harm you.
Probably adds up to nothing but I still balk at the use of the word hatred in connection to the holocaust.
