-- You're ascribing too much power to these illusionists. It is our power--the Patriots' power--the Peoples' power--that it real. The veneer of their fake legitimacy would be utterly stripped away. --

Great post. I do wonder about the split, what with education being compromised, EBT ubiquitous, and so on. You likely have heard the saw about "once half the population discovers it can vote largess for itself out of the public treasury ...", it's game over for that social/government compact. Basically an argument against universal suffrage.

People are sheep-like, not as independent as they fancy themselves, susceptible to group-think. There lies the power of a uniform press and properly regulated pro-wrestling style government where the fight is fake, and the wrestlers and promoters all make out.

I do think a majority of the public see through the charade, but I'm not sure it is a vast majority. I also think a small minority really understands the principles that underlie the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. We've allowed the federal government to get radically out of whack, and most people think it is basically honest, and running as designed.

Fact of the matter is, it is utterly corrupt, all three branches, and is itself subversive of the document that created it.

True fact. Another great post.

Understatement of the century! Not being a bit critical of the statement, just the fact that it is almost impossible to give the facts of the matter enough strength and emphasis at this point.

Closest that I can come is comparing it to "looks like there may be some water taken on" as a vessel is completely submerged under the sea.

What percentage of the US population currently understands this to the degree that it is true?

Alexis de Tocqueville's words, I believe. To my mind, it's more of a warning against welfare state policies which would enable such destruction—as opposed to universal suffrage. But point well taken, of course...
