I noticed the 18 star flag too, but never bothered to research it. It was never an official US flag.

Colonel Philip Hicky needed a flag to be flown at the Baton Rouge arsenal when Louisiana joined the Union on April 30, 1812. Since it would take too long to get one from Washington, the ladies of Baton Rouge made one from silk dresses.

Considered extremely rare by Rare Flags website.

War of 1812 is considered by some, 2nd war of independence. We are in such a war today.

You went a step farther than I did. (I knew about the Cvil War variants.) If the Hickey flag still exists, I wonder if its corners are missing or deliberately rounded...
