CNN's Erin Burnett: Trump Solving North Korea Problem Means "Going Down As A Great President"
RCP ^ | 3/9/2018 | Ian Schwartz

On Thursday night, CNN host Erin Burnett, speaking about President Trump's impending meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, said Trump would go down "as a great president" if he could solve the North Korea problem.

How significant is that? Kim Jong-un was willing to put that on the table. Is that something or not?

JAMES "SPIDER" MARKS, CNN MILITARY ANALYST: It is something. It's huge, quite frankly. I would think Kim would run the risk of being viewed as irrelevant and in fact not being taken seriously if he were not to acknowledge that the coalition, the South Korean-U.S. coalition, military coalition on the peninsula is one of the best in the world, and has been there for 70 years. He has to acknowledge that that's not going away, and that their rhythm of exercises and joint connections and that command is going to continue to exist in some capacity.

The fact that he acknowledged that makes us realize there might be something real here. But again, we have to be -- a large dose of skepticism has to be taken with all of this.

BURNETT: All right. Well, thanks very much to all of you. Just an extraordinarily evening and of course owning the door to the big question, if President Trump can truly solve this problem, that would be going down as a great President, and there's no way around that. That is the reality here.

and there's no way around that

Why would you want a way around it?

Yes, I agree. This is a remarkable moment - but it’s just a moment. NorKor leaders have played bait and switch with the West for decades.

There are two reasons I think this time might be different:

1) Trump himself is different; he’s a paradigm-shifting leader;
2) The “earthquake” that wiped out a nuke testing site and many scientists — there have been rumors that the “Rods from God” weapon was what destroyed the site...

“...I don’t see any reason for celebrating any sort of accomplishment because nothing has been accomplished.”

Most accurate of observations.
Newsies are working both sides of the street in portraying (setting up?) President Trump to be in a “go or blow” mode; great success or terrible failure. Other than along for the ride, President Moon’s role appears unclear.
Insofar as having potential to be the greater winner, my nickels on Kim. It’s his moment to become a significant personage in Korean - if not wider – history by encouraging normalization if not ultimate reunification. Surprisingly so, with political/economic terms that may be largely in his favor. Trick for Kim will be not getting too big for his britches in subsequent relations with China. Opportunity sometimes being in the moment, before day’s end, Kim will do well to consider Sun Tzu’s saying; “The greatest victory is that which requires no battle.” And hire a good spinmeister!

Totally agree. And as usual our reliably non credible media is using every opportunity available to trash Trump. To them it is a golden opportunity to bring out all the old chants about how inexperienced he is about how nobody has ever done it this way and how Obama was so wonderful with his massive foreign policy successes, and while the chances of Trump succeeding are probably in the 10 to 15% range, should he succeed it would be an outstanding achievement. Certainly a bit more auspicious than Obama’s receipt of the Nobel Prize for whatever he received it for. And of course should Trump succeed all of the pundits will by then just move on to another trash topic without ever acknowledging how completely wrong they were.

That was in the morning.
By afternoon Trump is a dimwit that will be rolled by Kim.
