“Sessions should have never recused himself,” Trump told the paper, “And if he was going to recuse himself he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else.”
Trump indeed said those things. He also said many other things to get the media riled up and foaming at the mouth. He also called the Dems bluff on DACA after campaigning against it.
It is entirely possible those words betrayed genuine frustration at how these investigations are going or maybe he is merely playing the media and democrats for fools. Time will tell. In the meantime, I will continue to trust both Trump and Sessions to do what’s right for our country.
Trump never outright lies. He’s immanently capable of playing the media/Democrats without boldfaced lying. Trump was furious with Sessions for blindsiding him with that recusal. Trump and Sessions have been at odds ever since.
