When I said “removed”, I should have said “removed as a threat”, not necessarily fired.
When Trump sees someone as real threat, he destroys them through a relentless negative branding campaign that has been stunningly effective. I agree that if Trump wanted Sessions, Mueller or Rosenstein gone, firing them would not be the smart play - but he has other ways of removing threats - and after a year he still hasn’t bothered.
If I’m wrong, then when will this coup take place? Wouldn’t it have happened by now?
The usual ways Trump has of dealing with threats don’t entail throwing gasoline on Mueller’s obstruction probe:
