What's this nonsense about Democrat turnout in Texas?
2018-03-07 | Dangus

Drudge and establishment/leftwing news sites have been going crazy with the notion that incredibly high Democrat turnout in Texas means that Texas is going blue.

But election results show that Republicans are absolutely SPANKING Democrats in turnout, getting 50% more votes than the Democrats.

https://www.politico.com/election-results/2018/texas/

And that's with the Democrats having fiesty, expensive primary contents while the Republicans are mostly merely coronating their incumbent governor, Greg Abbot, and senator, Ted Cruz (although both candidates had multiple opponents).

Abbot received 1.4 million votes, compared to Lupe Valdez and Andrew White, who will be headed to a runoff after receiving about half that number... combined!

And after all the worry that Ted Cruz was so vulnerable, he managed 1.3 million votes, compared to the Democrat nominee who received less than half as many.

These are huge increases in Democrat primary votes, so it's worth noting that core Democrats are energized... but turning Texas blue?

early voting, which apparently mostly Democrats were doing

The scandalous Dem early voting machine in Texas is a huge scandal.

MSM is the propaganda wing of the Deep State/Shadow Government. If history isn't enough proof, I don't know what else will convince anyone...

Just the proof of how badly skewed (intentional) and wrong the polls have proven to be shows they are projecting the outcome they want, not reality.

And it's all to fool the foolish...

They have limited with success with special elections where they throw immense amount of money at operatives and message in a very limited area to get immense turn-out. This doesn’t seem to work in larger scale elections, however, as their messaging and operations seem effective on larger scales. It may also be that Republicans are reacting to the threat of Democrats having a wave, which is countering it.

The real issue is money. The DNC is quickly drying up their coffers, and though the Dems have quite a presence in PACs and the like, those deal much more with messaging and not boots on the ground GOTV. I have a feeling that if the GOP focuses heavily on GOTV this election, they might end up getting seats. Heavily.

Dems got 500K primary votes in 2012 and 2014 vs 900K this year. GOP totals were about 1.5m 2012, 2014 and 2018. Statewide, no chance of Democratic wins in the general. However, Congressional seats could be lost to the Dems in closely contested districts where previous results involved single digit margins. Those will need big dollars in ads and GOTV to keep Republican.

Usual stuff by the media to scare Republicans. The Democrats have a few problems in Texas, and the the rest of the South.

1) In Texas we still have a mild form of Voter ID, so it’s much tougher to ‘manufacture’ 3 million extra votes.

2) Hispanics here are not militarized as they are in CA and the East Coast. 40% of them voted Republican in 2014. They still help the Dems, but not by nearly as much as they do elsewhere. Sadly blacks here still have escaped the Democrat plantation, so they tend to tighten up our elections.

3) Republicans in Texas won in 2014 by 20%, EVERY statewide Republican won by that margin. And they were all hard-core conservative - talking about the ‘invasion’ from Mexico, for example.

So, for 2018, while the Demographic trends still favor the Democrats, if all things were equal to 2014, they’d lose by something like 17-18% (due to demographics alone).

Having said that, in 2014, we were all unified in fighting Obama. Now we have to deal NeverTrumpers still fighting Trump, Assholes (like Cruz during the 2016 Primaries), and a more fired up Democrat base. On the other hand, they threw away the governor race with some Lupe guy no one ever heard of, so really the only reason for Dems to come out is to ‘send a message’ to Trump...but I doubt there’s enough of them. In 2014 they did run their Abortion Barbie, who did fire up the relative handful of men-hating women here, but she still lost by that 20% margin.

It is why I stopped watching and reading anything from the MSM about 20 years ago. They just want people to be emotionally stimulated and agitated. I don’t need that.

Funny. Just listening to the radio this morning. You’d think the nor’easter coming in today was the end of the world. They actually had a live-action field reporter commenting about watching a sanding truck being loaded with salt. *That’s* the news?!! We now get to hear about a sanding truck being readied to do what sanding trucks do in the Winter. And the report was all delivered in a loud, panicked tone by the reporter.

All I could think when I heard it was, “aren’t you embarrassed to read such drivel as news”?

It's that common core math that tells the kids that the answer can be whatever you want, as long as you have a good reason.

It is obvious that 1,500,000 is smaller than 1,000,000 since a million has more zeroes than 1.5 million. That's a 6 to 5 win in favor of the dems.

For the Republicans it’s all about getting you to donate to their party, for Democrats it’s all about trying to bring out Trump hating voters. Same old dog & pony show for the people.

Disagree on the latter part.

(D)s play to win. When they have enough to push something through to forward their agenda, they DO it. They will fall on their swords (ala h’care), but it’ll be ‘law’

Compare and contrast that w/ the (R)N(C). Just look at the h’care bait-n-switch (”Vote for US and we’ll kill O’Care.” *wish granted* “Ummm, we don’t have a/the bill ready. Disregard the last 7 ones, those weren’t *real*”). ‘Tax cuts’ (BWaahahaha), budget (1T+ deficits), DACA (they fought as hard for illegals), the wall (cheap labor express, coming through)

Even IF it’s something the (R) can push through, it’s never a ‘regaining ground’ state, let alone REALLY pushing back. It’s always ‘start from the new line’.

IOW, we need an OPPOSITION party.

“What's this nonsense about Democrat turnout in Texas?”.........

It's the media “power of suggestion”, more commonly known as “fake news”.

Well if there’s a bright spot for Texas Democrats it is that the wall hasn’t been built yet so maybe they can import another 500,000 voters before November.

I think technically, the Democrats showed up in much greater numbers this midterm than other midterms. I saw a headline that there turnout was doubled than previous midterm elections.

One has to read what the stories are actually saying.

As it is, if 1.5-2.2 million voters showed up and there could be as many as 14 million etc. eligible voters in Texas, we’ll see what turnout is in November.

Jeepers, I’d be sorry to hear (snort) that Mueller got hauled to the woodshed after Republicans smashed
Democrats pipe dream of a red Texas.

Obama and Chuckie musta reamed Mueller out but good.

Now get back to do the job....or else no more $150,000 paychecks.”

If the Democrats push the idea that they will sweep everything, it will draw the money they desperately need. That’s why the media is pushing this narrative

It’s just a desperate attempt by the media to brainwash Americans into thinking more people think like “them” than think like “us”. I hear the same crap in Georgia all the time, about how Georgia is a “purple” state. Dream on.
