This email starts innocently enough. Don't open it!

Showed my wife the email when she got home and she laughed.

Mine did also, then she commandeered
my laptop. I can only use it now,
supervised, for 1 hour a day..../sarc

My favorites are the screaming, flashing alarm pages that notify me that I have call and pay them a crapload of money because “a virus has been detected!!!!” and you can’t close the page...because apparently one else on earth is aware of the “task manager” function.
Sheesh.

There are some Youtube video's that show some IT guys speaking with them on the phone. One guy infected the guy trying to get his money. It was a hoot.

OK, an update of sorts!
MalwareBytes finds nothing.
Avast finds nothing. Well, it did find one thing (Predo, I think) and eliminated it!).
Spyware S&D found 74 items of questionable repute, mostly cookies. All shut down, quarantine enabled, computer immunized.
I went to the Gibson Research site, and found my firewalls leaked, so I ditched Avast and got Zone Alarm. Leakage has stopped, but we’ll see.
I checked on Remote Access, and I feel that was a real culprit, so it’s been turned off.
Just to make real sure about this, I’ve backed up my email, address book and mail profile. Since (according to him) tomorrow is D-Day, tonight I’m going to delete my mail client, then reinstall at some point tomorrow, sans all contacts. Even if this comes to pass, he’ll have nothing to work with.
I’m more than willing to accept any critiques here!
