“They should have let him take his sammich.”
Yes and I’ll tell you why.
Like the article say he was panhandling. People don’t like to give to people who panhandle because they think the money just goes for booze or drugs. There are some however who say “if someone is really hungry I’ll take them in Mcdonalds and buy them a hamburger” and that is what this man did! So he know his money not going for drugs or booze.
It was a win win for everyone!!!
The manager got money for selling his food.... plus the man was not panhandling and the man buying? He did his good deed for the day, the homeless man got food. everyone wins!
“It was a win win for everyone!!!”
Easy for you to say. The homeless army is growing here in L.A. and I doubt you would eat beside a homeless dude who hasnt showered nor cleaned in weeks. When I go to any resto , even a crappy fastfood joint like MCD’s, i expect some cleanliness. If I want to see homeless people eat. I can easily go to Skid Row and do that...
Nope.
In San Francisco several years ago I saw a panhandler chatting with a guy who was going to buy him a meal in line at McDonalds for about five minutes. It was a long line.
When the panhandler got the meal, the guy who paid for it left. As soon as the guy who paid for it left, the panhandler, who had been all “hale fellow, well met, I’m just down on my luck, this could happen to you, I really appreciate you feeding me” turned immediately nasty, claimed the food was no good, and demanded that the counter person take the meal back and give him a refund. He got it.
That’s how I am I don’t get money, but I will buy a meal.
If the individual has previously been trespassed he can’t legally enter the property whether he has money for a meal or not.
If people have to run a gauntlet of beggars to buy lunch they will go someplace else. That’s why it’s not a “win-win” for the business.
