Authorities are searching for a Corvette that was stolen out of Franklin County.

Police say the 1978 Chevy Corvette 25th Anniversary Stingray was stolen from the Gerald area before February 20.

On February 20, police say a woman was spotted filling the car up with gas before she drove off without paying.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of the car or woman, call police.

Vegas weren't bad *looking* cars, you just had to swap out the PoS engine...and make a few other mods:

My 68 RS/SS 396 Camaro , now that's a hot car. By 78 the smog motors had rolled in

Nice car. I had a '67 250 six from '67 to '80. Incredibly well built car, might have kept/restored it but no AC.

Drove a '68 Z-28 at a dealership in '68. YIKE.

Yes, I think this was when a Saab 900 could take it on a standing quarter mile.

My brother had a ‘79. There were no improvements that I know of.

Quite possibly the worst Corvette ever built. Terrible rear lines, horrifically anemic engine, electrical problems out the wazoo, etc.

Cannot recall which years they were, but ones with the digital dash were a big hit with the "gold chain" crowd, as were the Dastun 280Z things. It was the disco era.

Appearance was everything, substance and performance, not so much.

The only stock Vegas I've seen in the last 30 years were the Cosworths

Besides converting them to fuel injection and the 16 valve DOHC, which was high tech at the time, they made improvements to the cooling system, which GM should've done in the first place. The only other Vegas still around are small block conversions.

That’s not a bad looking car at all. I’m still partial to Novas, but it’s not too shabby.

Can’t tell you how much I agree. I had
a 1981. Biggest piece of junk I’ve ever
owned...and in my 63 years have owned
32 vehicles. That corvette was really
a piece of crap. The best of the bunch?
A 2014 Mustang GT...

Isn’t that the year that all Vettes sported the Jimmy Carter special fire-breathing putting out a whopping 180 horses?

If someone ever steals a Vega diesel, we should all be frightened.
