The *one* thing that rankles me most is that NO ONE seems to have died wearing colorful clothing.

The zombies have been literally left out in the rain.

Rain, sun, dirt bleaches out colors pretty well over time. I can't image what offal and intestinal contents will do to "zombie fashion wear"

As for the chainsaw as a weapon, need to get medieval..literally.

Raid the hardware stores for axes, shovels and hoes(not those kind of hos)

Armies of the 1000 to the age of gunpowder used the kind of impliments commonly found in the garden isles. Pickaxes, bill hooks, poleaxes, spears and not to mention mauls, sledge hammers(a bit hard to swing after a while) pitchforks..etc.

If you are lucky to be near a museum, raid it for actual broadswords, shields(light armour) ,chairmail(may get hot, though), war hammers and daggers would arm a formidable raiding party. Best of all they are re-usable.

Michonne had the right idea but not the right weapon. Katanas are great..if you can keep them sharp but will dull quickly after a few chops on fresh zombie skulls. Better a good broadsword. Not as graceful but more durable even when dull, it delivers a more blunt edge than actual slice. Not that the zombie would notice.
