Reminds me of the modern parable about the lady who had faith in the lord and was trapped in her house as floodwaters rose.

she remembered the pastor said pray to the lord and he will save you, as the waters rose she was at the tip of the roof and did not know how to swim

as she continued to pray a helicopter came and lowered a basket, the loudspeaker said climb in the basket , to which she replied: " no thank you, I have faith in the lord to save me"

The full version of the story was that 1) the cops came to tell them to evacuate but she stayed, 2) the neighbors were bugging out and invited her to leave with them but she stayed, 3) after the storm hit and everything was flooded and the coast guard came to rescue her - she still stayed!

Within a few days she died from exposure and went to Heaven and when she met the Lord she asked him "didn't you say that you would rescue & protect me?" He smiled and shook his head and replied "I sent you the cops, your neighbors and finally the coast guard to save you but you refused them all! What did you expect, for me to come down in a fiery chariot for you? Anyways you are home now, enjoy your rest "
