I would call that a candidate thinking out of the box. He was behind and trying something new. In any other universe you would not think that was a bad thing.
He wasn’t behind, he’d lost the primary election. He refused to acknowledge that and “chose” a VP to whom his campaign mysteriously paid $500,000.00 during the election. He went into the convention, got up and made a total ass of himself, refusing to acknowledge let alone endorse his party’s nominee.
You can’t gloss over all the weirdness that was the Ted Cruz 2016 campaign. Running to the border with Glen Beck to hand out soccer balls and teddy bears to illegal immigrants, allowing Glen Beck to “swear him in” as President, it was a real barrel of monkeys there, no matter how badly you’d like to pretend it didn’t happen.
Then there’s the whole “Mr. Constitution” somehow managing to “forget” that he was Canadian.
The man’s just got problems.
