After some thought, Adam Rippon has decided to decline the offer of becoming an NBC correspondent for the remainder of the Olympic games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Earlier today, it was announced that the figure skater, who has become a prominent highlight of these games, was going to have his hand at commentary. However, he has decided to turn down the offer after he realized he would have to give up his Olympic standing and credential for the position. By joining NBC as a correspondent, he wouldnt be allowed to participate in the closing ceremony.
I am so flattered that NBC wanted me to work as a correspondent, but if I took this opportunity, I would have to leave the Olympic team and I would have to leave the (Olympic) Village, he said in an initial interview with NBCSN (via USA Today). Its so important to me, you know, I worked so hard to be on this Olympic team, and my teammates and my friends were there for me during my events, and that meant so much to me, that I really feel like I need to be there for them during their events.
Rippon then took to Twitter to reiterate the news saying, I actually found everything out about the offer via twitter

Boy, he’s got curly hair.
Tenth? Guess he only made it in because he’s homosexual.
What did he win a bronze medal in?

Adam also self-identified as Meryl Streep.
Even freaky Johnny Wier went “WTF?!?” when Adam made that comment.
When you’re too queer for Johnny Weir. (Hey, that rhymes)
Oh, my.
Of course, NBC had that Olympics Dale Earnhardt, Jr. as correspondent, and he ended up friends with figure skater Chris Knierim. They showed up watching speed skating and during a lull, the two talked about their vintage Camaros, much to the anger of NBC and an IOC sponsor (Toyota) that the skater, who took trade school to learn diesel engines to pay for skating, was taking with the special correspondent about their cars.
Chris probably has a V8 Tahoe now for his family now that he and Alexa had their first child earlier in 2025. He’d probably want to buy one in Tallahassee at DEJ Chevrolet.
