In my school days, 1952-1964, we saw lots of guns and knives in school. it meant kids were going to leathercraft class and making holsters and sheathes. Many of us kids back then had a folding knife and breaks were spent sharpening them with a whetstone. If you didn’t, you were “out”.

Then came Madalyne Murray O’Hair, John Kennedy murder, and later the Bobby Kennedy killing, and everything went to hell in a hand basket.

In shop back in 1965 we made walnut gun racks and displayed our products with rifles in them at the end of the semester.
