I’m thinking and hoping that Trump is smarter than this. Raising taxes, ANY sort of raising taxes, will doom his presidency. Cut spending instead.

Gas taxes won't ‘doom’ his presidency... Look at all the liberals in California - paying taxes up the wazoo and they keep re-electing democrats.
Too bad Trump can't JUST raise the gas tax but only in California, New York and Illinois... by two or three bucks a gallon. Those folks are already used to being tax slaves and they keep voting greedy liberals into office.
