How Islam is Changing Russia
The Jamestown Foundation ^ | 2016 | Marlene Laruelle

Russia is becoming increasingly a Muslim country.

Russia counts about 15 million people (in a total population of over 146 million, including two million in annexed Crimea) of Muslim background, or about 11 percent of its population. All are not fervent believers, and even fewer practice Islam routinely. Moscow has the largest Muslim community in Europe: about one million Muslim residents and up to 1.5 million Muslim migrant workers. Given demographic changes, Muslims will represent between one third (the most conservative estimate) and one half (the most generous estimate) of the Russian population by around 2050.

Russia’s Muslims mostly belong to the country’s traditional ethnic minorities, many of whom are demographically on the rise. To this should be added about five million labor migrants who also belong to traditionally Muslim populations—from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan—and whose activities spread Islam well beyond the historically Muslim regions of Russia, the North Caucasus and the Volga-Urals. Widespread Internet and social media use characterizes Russian society; the upshot is that the Islamic digital world is increasingly available to Russian Muslim citizens, who are no longer isolated from global trends, whether feminine Islamic fashions or debates about halal food or radical online preaching. This “Islamization” of Russia—not in the sense of radical Islam but more of a “Muslimization,” that is, a rising number of citizens self-referring to Islam—will impact both Russia’s domestic situation and its foreign policy options in the medium and long term.

Islam’s growing importance in Russia will shape the country’s future in at least five main directions: the overall demographic balance of the country; the strategy of “normalizing” the regions of the North Caucasus and, in particular, Chechnya; Russia’s migration policy; Russia’s positioning on the international scene; and the transformation of ethnic and religious identities.

Russians have chosen this with a low birth rate and early mortality.

The Antichrist’s empire is symbolized by several animals, one being a bear. He will rebuild the Holy Roman Empire. Being 10% muslim at this point makes sense. That number will climb. Notice anyone who doesn’t take the mark is beheaded. Muslims are very head choppy.

At the moment, the Chinese and Russians are allies of convenience.

But, I wonder long term how an increase in Muslim influence will affect that relationship. The Chinese have figured out that Muslims are bad juju before they built a significant presence (except in Uighur province in western China), and control them before they multiply, as it were. They don’t import them.

The real solution is to convert them but that doesn’t seem to be within the realm of possibility for any Western country.

Does it really make a difference what country they invade....it’s still Islam’s ‘migration Jihad’....to conquer and submit countries to the rule of Islam.

How can we convert them when most Western citizens aren’t believers?

It used to be that immigrants would buy into the culture, even if their religious customs were kept separate. With Islam, that’s less likely. Not only that, we have organs in our culture (MSM, Hollywood) which actively denigrate our culture in the interest of short-term eye-ball attention and profit.

It means disaster. They don’t become civilized humans. They decivilize the areas they infest. Plus they take money and don’t work.

Russia should consider setting the Muslim dominated areas of their country, such as Chechnya, free to become independent nations. Then Russia could treat the Muslims as aliens and expel them. After that, the country should consider federating with Belarus and Ukraine as a Slavic, Eastern Orthodox union. Those countries were part of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union from the 17th Century until 1991.

Ukrainians (including those of the Orthodox variety) want no part of it in current Kremlin conditions. The country just celebrated their first Catholic/Western Christmas officially this past December 25th (with the day off alongside Orthodox Christmas on Jan 7th) —> and there were celebrations in Kiev on the anniversary of the Protestant Reformation in a show of solidarity with the Western Christian fold.

Russians don’t want to lose their empire including the Islamic holdings. And now you know why they’ve been unable to break from the authoritarian, vertical model of governance despite being called a “Federation.”

Putin could help reverse this by outlawing abortion. He could do it by ukase. Instead, he uses and misuses his power for self enrichment.

And to top it off: they’ve banned Christian evangelism.

Yes, Putin doesn’t respect religion as a freely exercised matter of individual conscience. He really doesn’t respect anything at all about Christianity. What he does with Christianity is similar to what Stalin did with it when the Nazis were deep inside Russia. He uses it to unify the Russian people behind his closely controlled, top-down, state-controlled (i.e., Putin controlled) religion. It has nothing to do with Christianity as it has traditionally been understood.

The solution is to pray, and preach to, and convert the Muslims to Christ. This goes for our Country, as well. Greater is He that is within us, then he that is in the world. We just need to get off our self absorbent duffs and do what The LORD has commanded, which is to go out into all the world and make disciples.
