screaming babies is the main reason to carry noise-cancelling headphone on planes at all times.

Nothing like being yanked from a plane to instill a little “negative feedback” for your actions.
The wife and I were on a flight once. We were already seated, near the rear of the plane, when a mother with her infant and the infant’s grandmother boarded the plane and sat down a couple of rows ahead of us.
The grandmother stood up, before we began to taxi, and handed out “goodie” bags to everyone sitting within four or five rows of the baby. The goodie bags contained ear plugs, candy, gum, etc. and a note. The note was written as if coming from the baby. It apologized in advance for any crying and asked for patience.
That gesture went a long way to making the flight, with the baby, more trouble and aggravation free.

My guess is she did not pay attention to announcements. They ask for people with small children very early in the boarding.

A stewardess then came over to try and calm the situation, at which point the passenger started to complain about having to sit next to a crying baby. So, she was beside herself?

Kids don't bother me. They have an excuse if they act up. (I *might* blame the parent).
Adults bother me. They have no excuse for being disruptive, playing music too loudly (sometimes without head phones), chewing loudly, talking loudly, kicking my seat, crowding in line, being rude to staff and other passengers...

I wonder if she’s mentally ill. There seems to be a lot of that going around lately.

Before I had kids, crying babies used to irritate me.
While my kids were young, I was terrified they would cause a ruckus.
After my kids were old enough to be have I symthaized with a struggling mom.
Now that my kids are out of the house and on their own, I kind of like the sound of babies.
And how can you get angry at a baby?

At this point the flight attendant turns to someone off-screen and says: I want this lady off my flight.
The angry passenger then suddenly changes her tune BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahaha! ! ! ! ! lady - you're SO out of here.
