The big FAKE NEWS is that Walter Cronkite and Edward R Murro were somehow different.
I first saw it firsthand in 1964 Alinsky groups in Chicago.
The best drama was 1968 when the anti-Vietnam activists tried to suck Chicago’s Alinsky neighborhood groups into the anti-war movement. The media was offering all kinds of bribes to the neighborhood groups. The media knew that the neighbohood groups could deliver larger numbers than the ideologues ... and the media wanted numbers ... and the media knew the neighborhood people would be real people and not trust fund babies.
I was co-chair of the citywide coalition of neighborhood groups that successfully thwarted the bribes and threats of the media and trust fund babies.
