Andy suggested that the future always brings progress and improvements in the human condition.
I would agree that science brings near universal improvements however I do not agree that the human condition is always improved as time marches on.
I would suggest that the twentieth century saw a whole host of degradations in the human condition.
Communism and Socialism killed off over 120 million souls and I dont really think that period of history has drawn to a close.
Feminism set off changes in the family structure that continues to destroy lives. Governments engaging in social engineering is also destroying the family and lives as a consequence.
Socialism is driving changes in morality and economics that is making full time work harder and harder to come by.
Atheism is on the march, pushed by government and activist, driving God out of community life and try to minimize Gods influence on society and the family.
The author suggested that no one would want to live in an earlier time but I dont know if that is true.

I don’t necessarily endorse his political-beliefs nor his Vision of Space. But, he has done quite a bit to help popularize Space more,for mainstream audience’s. And this is a good chance to hear the guy talk in a long-form setting.
