SPARTANSBURG, Pa. A man convicted of a felony sex crime against a 4-year-old girl has been elected to his second term as chief of a Pennsylvania town's volunteer fire department, The Corry Journal reports.
Roger Gilbert Jr. of Spartansburg was convicted in 2001 of "involuntary deviate sexual intercourse" for forcing a 4-year-old girl to perform oral sex, according to the Journal. He was sentenced to five to 10 years in prison.
Gilbert, 43, joined Spartansburg's volunteer fire department in 2010 and is not paid for his job as chief. He said he has "changed his life for the better" since his conviction.
But the victim's mother isn't buying it.
"As fire chief, this man interacts with children, she told the Journal. If you were in an accident, would you want this man working on your child?"
Spartansburg Mayor Ann Louise Wagner said she and members of the fire department have known about Gilbert's status as a registered sex offender. She added that she supports their decision to re-elect him as chief.

I guess you just need to lash out for a bit ?
Huh?
Well, lets have that discussion then.
You don’t have information but you do? Well, illuminate us so we can get closer to the truth.
As I stated the goal of the article is to elicit an emotional response and per the thread here, and your disjointed comment, it has.

LGBTP pride member by other names. This was a grown man who raped a little girl. What does that have to do with gays?
To: simpson96
While I’m all for forgiveness and second chances, this man’s crime means he should never, ever be allowed around children unsupervised again, if at all. The “cure” rate is very low and recidivism is very high. What sort of punishment did he receive, and why is a convicted felon even eligible to hold elected office?
To: simpson96
I don’t know what the firefighters equivalent of “fragging” is but if I were on this department......

How odd. He’s not a female school teacher or a Catholic priest. But then students at universities say that it’s common knowledge that most homosexuals are bisexual.

Pedophilia is not curable.
The best treatment for everybody involved, is to keep the perp away from targets and more victims, should he “relapse.”

You jump to a big assumption. I jump to no assumption, I asked. I also observe reactions, and note that the relevant facts are:
- The man was indeed found guilty of a felony sex crime against a 4 year old.
- The man subsequently was elected to his 2nd term as volunteer fire chief.
- You have not answered the question posed to you, which was "Are you okay with that?"
It's not that hard of a question. I personally would not want that man in that position in my community. How about you?
What other factors do you think need to be considered before rendering such an opinion?

"This article was written to ellicit an emotional response from you. Looks like it worked."
That's true. Many people are probably getting weary of seeing anecdotes about sickening aberrations so frequently posted from every corner of the world to the news that they read. My comment #29 was also posted to elicit reactions. It refers to some news companies that have retaliated with frequent articles about offenders other than men assumed to be straight. Granted, so many frequent retaliation pieces of that sort are also morbid for the mind.
We should think more about nice things and engage in nicer activities during our short lives. With less time spent thinking about political and social pushes, we would probably be much healthier in several ways.
The effects of feminist/homo-activist social engineering (including the tactic of flooding media with anecdotes) in academia, business and politics are temporary. Young people will get back to more commonly pairing up with each other, choosing their activity arrangements themselves and having more children again. It's human nature.
Meanwhile, the mad counter-culture horde will crawl crawl into the ground like every other generation but with more damage than good accomplishments in its reputation.

have you heard of NAMBLA? It is an organization of male queers devoted to the rape of little boys. In the past, NAMBLA was welcomed to march in many “gay” pride parades. I hope that clears it up. Have you read about so-called gays, aka, male queers that infiltrate organizations for young boys—see Catholic Church, BSA, Grade schools, HS, ...
