Malwarebytes, CCleaner, and AVG antivirus ( all free, plus AVG Rescue Disk or bootable flash drive if you're really in trouble) does it all, if you stay away from porno and shop-on-line sites. The free versions issue requests to update, for which you respond "yes" when asked. With these, never lost productivity in about 15 years of using them. Haven't paid a dime for AV products.
