If I could, I’d follow my youngest daughter around all day like a bodyguard. For that matter, all my daughters.


Do your best to. Definitely do NOT stop parenting once your daughter is 12 like my parents did. As good a student, as quiet and shy I was, it was the worst thing they could have done, to let the world finish raising me.

My youngest daughter (of three daughters and three sons) is turning 13 in a few days. Attitudinal and hormonal changes have already begun. She’s not as compliant as she used to be. But I will not stop trying to keep her safe until two weeks after I’m dead.

And I’m not going to die. You won’t see me going around dying all over the place. They’ll have to kill me before I die.
