True enough. But if drugs are legalized, I’m guessing that the addiction rate would explode. So as I see it, for all its warts the “drug war” is at least keeping a lid on things.

My solution (not that anyone asked):

1. Legalize marijuana. Put it in the same category as alcohol.
2. Apply the Singapore solution to everything else: death penalty for traffickers.

excellent point, BUT since the current addiction rate is no different than when drugs were legal; I’d argue addiction won’t change.
