Hopefully, I can get some productive answers before the self-righteous "got rid of TV years ago" crowd shows up:
I got rid of satellite TV service a couple of years ago. Since then, I've used "Sling" streaming TV service and "Hulu TV" streaming TV service.
I'm done with Hulu TV's ridiculous user interface, constant "streaming" screens, lack of 5.1 audio, etc. I switched to Hulu TV from Sling because Hulu had Fox News and CBS sports, neither of which I've spent much time watching. It's just not worth Hulu TV's glaring negatives.
I may switch back to Sling, but I know there are many more services out there.
I have the Roku streaming stick, so I can work with most streaming services.
What are your recommendations?
Roku and DirectTV Now. That will get you pretty much everything you could possibly want for a fair price. The Roku is just the cost of the device. The DTV Now price varies based on what package you get, but it’s much cheaper than satellite or cable. I know there are a lot of ditch your TV types on here, but some of us don’t live on FR and actually enjoy sports and the occasional TV show. I would do exactly this and drop DTV, but I use the DVR too much and as of the last I heard that wasn’t yet available on Now. Plus I have to keep things simple for the wife who is not tech savvy, and using the Roku/DTVN setup is a little more involved than satellite.
I should add that my watching is done on a 60” Sharp smart TV. It’ll do until I get a bigger one.
I have Acorn and Britbox for British shows, Amazon Prime, YouTube and more using Roku for TV and iPad mini for other viewing. I paused my Dish network about a year and a half ago (no charge) and will get rid of it in the next few months. The equipment has been stored in the closet for months and I dont miss it.
I am about to cancel Sling TV and pick up DirecTV Now. I had Netflix and Hulu, but got fed up with the content. It seems that most of the shows are liberal...and I’m not going to sponsor or support them anymore, especially Netflix. DirecTV Now is a little more expensive than Sling TV, but the basic offering has Fox News. And THAT’S the main reason I’m making the move...
I use Amazon fireTV boxes with Netflix and Amazon prime.
Also have a PC connected through AV receiver for Torrents and physical DVDs.
We are using Playstation Vue. I like it.
DirecTV Now and Playstation Vue are options.
I’m thinking of going to YouTube TV - $35 per month, lots of channels - hook it up to my Chromebook and Chromecast - should be seamless connection - check it out https://tv.youtube.com/welcome/

Have you tried Playstation Vue. I know it has the Hallmark Station.
Gotta agree with the new interface. It was one of those, "let's redesign to make things more difficult", things. I'll never understand why people do that.
I first bought firestick. Amazon. Then I used sling. Cancelled. Then hulu. Cancelled. I like direct tv but not matter what you MUST HAVE really good internet for streaming.
My phone offers free Netflix.
Next is to buy antenna.
Cost was 226 month. Now it’s 35.00.
I meant direct tv NOW. Not direct tv.
Agreed. I quit teevee. Don’t miss it a bit. Funny, my kids quit too. They will never pay for cable or anything similar.
Over the air antenna, plus Amazon Fire Stick with Amazon Prime, which gives me free shipping, too. Download the free Firefox app and you can browse the Internet, watch YouTube videos, etc.
I have an antenna hooked into a Tivo OTA (Over The Air) box. Then I have Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix. I use mostly the antenna, Hulu and Netflix. Prime gets me the other Amazon benefits but almost never use it for TV.
If there’s something those won’t get there’s the Terrarium TV app on the Fire TV, but rarely use it.
Roku, Philo, Hulu, Amazon Prime. The Hulu account is used by multiple people as is Prime so the cost to me is about 70 bucks a month including internet.
Try giving foreign shows a chance.
I use DramaFever and Viki to watch Korean Dramas. Japanese shows are more serious. Taiwanese shows are not a plentiful.
For shows from the States, I watch Hulu and Netflix. If you like to buy things from Amazon then Amazon Prime will give you free shipping and more shows.
Oh and I got an antenna for local. Philo allows you to record stuff that will keep for 30 days.
I don't understand how that works. If you don't have cable or dish where is the WiFi coming from? Where is the router?
