But it doesn’t take as much information to build a mouse as to build a man.
Turns out that everything kills cancer in mice.
I remember hearing about anti-viral treatments for cancer a few years ago. In essence the docs were working under the assumption that cancer cells would hide from our immune system in a manner similar to the way viruses hijacked cells.
This is exciting news.
My sister was just ending chemo for breat cancer and one of the other patients was getting a new treatment for lung cancer that was “customized” for him. It had to do with manipulating stem cells so that the interaction with the patient was not horrible. There were minimal side effects.
The whole medical treatment field is really fascinating.
. . . but Im not sure it is easily reconciled with his pledge to bring down drug costs.IMHO the problem should be generalized to the following statements:
- health care and medicines are instrumentalities for the pursuit of happiness.
- the cost of health care and medicines is one of the side effects people have to consider when considering their utility in the pursuit of happiness.
- Any disease is an effect of the inability of medicine and medical care to prevent/cure.
- If no prevention/cure exists, the cost of treatment is infinite - no price will buy it.
- Once a prevention/cure exists, the next trick is to get Moores Law to work on it. If that can be done, the initial cost of the first few treatments is far less critical than the geometric rate at which the cost declines.
- You want cheap drugs? First make sure that there are drugs, and then make sure that people are lying awake nights figuring out to produce them cheap. Which they will only do if they make money in the process of doing so.
Cancer treatment ain’t what it used to be. My friend lost all his hair ... beyond that the chemo/radiation seems to have little overall effect on him. We’ll see what happens ... the immune system treatment is scheduled for late this year.
“A cure for cancer is right around the corner.”
Wait long enough and the cure will be a procedure that turns patients into mice.
Has to come - once we can get the genetic code of the specific cancer being treated it can be used as the digital address to deliver packages of toxins to finish the cancer off - some estimates are no longer than ten years until it’s a fait accompli.....
LOL!
LOL! I already have that...
And Turns out that everything CAUSES cancer in mice, as well.....................
true
>> it doesnt take as much information to build a mouse as to build a man <<
Maybe so. But I can’t speak directly to the issue, because I have never looked into building either species.
