Actually, he is prominent in the story. He is not being particularly responsible, but he is there. It doesn't say if he's married to the mother, but he is father to the three year old mentioned.
(From the story:) His father, Rolando Fuentes, told ABC affiliate station WPLG in Miami that it was difficult to watch the video.
