I had absolutely no clue what "message" Mr. Lamar was trying to convey.
Agree ilgipper. We watch Grammy’s because we love the great performances but it was tougher than usual. Kendrick is an extreme talent. If you don’t know (not you ilgipper) then you don’t know. His politics aside he’s un-believable. He’s Ray. He’s Johnny Cash. He’s name a once-a-decade artist. Outkast circa 2003. Radiohead - Kid A. Wilco - A Ghost is Born. Kendrick Lamar is a talent with a purpose. I hate to say it but he’s got this generations ear and then some. Dude is legit. Flame away
I’m proud to say that I’ve never listened to the illiterate racist, Kendrick Lamar, and his “rapping” noise. I didn’t even know the Grammys were tonight, not that I would have watched that gaggle of subhuman pigs, anyway.
I take issue with you comparing that no-talent creature to Johnny Cash. Lamar is not fit to be mentioned in the same sentence as Johnny Cash, Ray Charles or Radiohead.
I feel sorry for the younger generation (I’m 47) because most of today’s “music” is just worthless noise, although there are some exceptions. Florence Welch, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson and Radiohead come to mind as some of the exceptions.
Play was suspended after 5 overtime holes due to darkness. Jason Day and Alex Noren will continue today.
He’s far from Ray Charles or Johnny Cash...
Kendrick already has 11 Grammy’s and he’s only 30. I’m not a fan but to say he’s not talented and can’t be compared to some of the generational greats is delusional. He’s gonna eventually wind up with more Grammy’s than Johnny. Regardless of the disdain toward him he’s gonna keep piling up accolades. Slam him. Slam the Grammy’s. Slam me, it’s no bother. It’s shooting the messenger. But I’m just laying out facts in the face of FR emotion.
Thanks!
Im not slamming you. You have every right to your opinion.
My ire is reserved for the Political Grammy Awards and their atrocious taste in music. Its all about Political Correctness, not talent.
I agree about Kendrick. He’s gifted at what he does. A few years back, he played at either the grammy’s or another awards show with Imagine Dragons and I kept it on my DVR for a year to watch their performance. He’s an idiot about the faux-cop killing garbage, but that aside, he’s one of the best performers of the era.
I don’t disagree with you there tide girl. That whole night was tough to stomach. If I’d have been playing a drinking game for every time I became disgusted I’d be in the hospital today.
Gipper I do the same thing. Record every ACL and concert I can find, keep some of em on the dvr for a long long time. Kendrick on SNL when he did ‘I’ was one of the most creative performances I’ve ever seen. Dude seemed in a trance or possessed. It was haunting, strange and amazing.
And I can’t stand him politically.
I’ll have to check out that one with Imagine Dragons.
Speaking on Johnny I’m watching Walk the Line right now. Haven’t seen it in a minute. Joaquin nails it!
