It occurs to me that one possibility is that the mother was informed about previous incidents and/or asked to have her son evaluated, and she refused to cooperate.

Still, it's extreme to haul the kid away in cuffs, but it might be the only way to prevent him from going ballistic and hurting himself and/or others.

A couple other posters hinted at that. I think Munchhausen might apply to behaviorism as well as physical maladies.

Extreme would be letting this sociopath continue pummeling whomever he wanted.

Did you know if a student continues to act out in school they can qualify for "Crazy" money and parents have been known to encourage the behavior? Probably not.
