—during one of his terms he proposed a “severance” tax which was aimed directly at the Climax and Henderson molybdenum mining operations and was going to tour the state touting the proposal. A rather large group of Leadville wives were going to follow him and refute his claims—

when i was a highschool senior in Colorado I was student council president. Gov. Lamm passed thru town on his way to visit an Oxy oil shale well. he stopped by the high school where i got to greet him and shake his hand.....it was very cool at the time.
Did Lamm ever explain why he was a democrat.
His views don’t fit the party.
That was so long ago. I remember my parents supported Gov. John Love, who IIRC was the governor just prior to Lamm.
