He can't be an "icon," he's white.
Besides, those involved in music are "moguls." Icons are involved in "civil rights."
Many great memories with friends and family playing and singing along with Neil Diamond. Regrets he’s suffering with Parkinson’s.
As, that’s too bad.
Luv Neil...
Interesting. Thanks for posting. My mom died after a 20 year battle with Parkinson, one week short of her 78th birthday.
Used to love him. What a nasty disease.
Love Neil!
Always gave his fans 100%.
Went to a couple of his concerts in the 70s, the man was a true performer, ranked with Elvis {never crazy about him} and The Chairman of The Board.
Retires after diagnoses of a very tough disease.
Knows he can’t deliver the performance his customers deserve.
Knows that his time is limited, wants to be with friends, family, check a few items off the bucket list, while still remaining active in the field he loves, doing what he can.
Sen Juan Mc-Shiite-Stain, are you reading FR today?
He has/had pipes that wouldn’t quit...
Wife and I saw him live at the Greek in LA in the early ‘80’s. One of the best shows ever. Great showman, singer and song writer.
Thanks, Neil, for all the great tunes. Your songs are the soundtrack for my early life.
Neil has been one of MY favorites for more years than I care to think about... Neil and Barbra’s duet is a classic.. Back in the 60’s, a NY DJ, Murray (The K) Kaufman said: “I love Neil Diamond, He’s a GEM”...
Hot August Night is an amazing piece of work.
L
A few years ago he played a show in Columbus, Ohio where he was not in good form, and drew a lot of negative reviews.
The next day he posted an apology for the poor performance on his website, and offered a refund out of his own pocket to anybody who wanted one.
He really impressed me as a stand-up guy with that.
Prayers for him.
Time gets us all.
Im sad for him. Refuah shelemah, prayers for healing.
One of my earliest memories was laying on the shag carpet in front of the stereo listening to my dads Neil Diamond albums.
Love that he got to see how popular he still is, with the commercials and pro games playing Sweet Caroline etc.

[snip] In Brooklyn he attended Erasmus Hall High School and was a member of the Freshman Chorus and Choral Club along with classmate Barbra Streisand. They were not close friends at the time, Diamond recalls: “We were two poor kids in Brooklyn. We hung out in the front of Erasmus High and smoked cigarettes.” [/snip]
I like Deep Purple’s cover of “Kentucky Woman”.
