The marines are reported to be guarding the POTUS. I tend to believe these reports in part because the marines are the only branch of the military which has POTUS as their direct commander and so they are known as "the president's own."

Don't the Marines always guard our presidents?

I read on another post (here?) that Trump does not control the rest of the armed forces. Just the Marines. This would explain why.

I remember Obama replacing all the flags. He kept control of the Marines only as long as he was president. Makes sense.

If POTUS intends to read and reveal the infamous FISA memo at the SOTU Speech, He’d better have plenty of Marines on hand and ready to rumble. If the memo is as damning as rumored; when POTUS begins voicing names and describing their evil plans, the Rats in the gallery will rise up with a roar, gnashing their teeth, and mob the podium, a la the stoning of Stephen in Acts 7:54 - 60. JMHO
