There’s currently a debate raging as to whether a teenager should be allowed to call her dog Negro. Actually, some people are so annoyed Twitter user @rebeca_macias18 named her missing hound the Spanish word for black they have suggested it should be changed. But the anger towards her seemed a bit unfair as she’s from Mexico, so speaks Spanish, and was not trying to offend anyone.

Some social media users argued she should have known how insensitive the word, which has been used to disparage black people in America, was. This Twitter user seemed to suggest the word should be changed even though it wasn’t supposed to refer to a person’s skin colour

Was doing a ride-along with the local police department a while ago; when he pulled up a motorists’ drivers license it said “African-American”. (For white drivers, it says “white”.) I asked what’s wrong with “Black”? “We’ve had complaints that it’s racist.”

It may be a term not greatly used today, but it is a legetimate scientific term. These are the same idiots that call any black, regardless of nationality, “African-American”. And the story has nothing to do with race. Just another sjw wannabe looking for their 15 minutes of being offended.

Pelo negro in Spanish means black hair. Negro as used in English designates a black person. Close enough for me.

I see where a remake of that film has been in the works for years. Never completed.
They renamed the dog “Digger” for the ill-fated remake.
