Winston Churchill and Douglas MacArthur both deplored Charles Dickens. Gives me the nerve to say that Hemmingway sucks.
I have read some of Hemingway. Some of his stuff is okay, but “The Old Man and the Sea” reads like it was written by kid in grade school. Never understood how it won a Pulitzer, much less the Nobel Prize is beyond me.
Hemmingway DOES “stink”; except for THE SUN ALSO RISES...the ONLY good thing he EVER managed to write.
