And the real crazy one from back then, which everyone in the Tampa Bay area who had any connections in the Cuban community knew about, (Tampa was the Cuba-Florida connection then, not Miami, from the tobacco importing - cigar rolling days) was that the Bay of Pigs invasion was coming.

My father lunched at the old Columbia Restaurant in the Ybor City section of Tampa on a regular basis, and he told my Mother and me about it at least a 3-4 days in advance.
