I hope the shutdown lasts as I am very interested in how much government we can live without.

If it isn’t outlined in The Constitution of the United States of America, it isn’t essential.

the Class Six is also the base shopette, thus one can get the essential food groups: Chips, dip, milk products and bread. :)

Thanks. I haven't been in a Class Six store in many years.

1.
absolutely necessary; indispensable

By definition, there’s a lot of feral stuff that isn’t necessary or that we can dispense with. Plebs are starting to figure it out.

I suspect the dems are sending out fund raising letters saying they need money to fight Trump on DACA. Dems will keep this charade going as long as money keeps coming in. I wonder if they have a certain dollar goal. Will they start cooperating once they have the impoverished DNC coffers refilled?

Does essential mean they will continue working until their pay catches up with them when this is over? If so, then the more essential the better. Or does it mean the non-essentials are the only ones getting what amounts to paid vacations?

If they are not needed when the government shuts down, why are they needed when it is open for business?

The ones who need them are not We the People, but we are supposed to at least pretend to believe so.

>>I am a federal contract employee and with every furlough, such as this pending unemployment, if I don’t work, I don’t get paid.<<

Contractors are not employees. Yes, contractors get screwed. Goes with the territory of deciding to take a federal gig. Risk/reward and all that.
