One of the best shows ever.

I was a latecomer. I had never watched an episode while it aired. Of course, I had heard of the show. I'm not completely detached from popular culture. I knew the premise and vaguely knew of the character of Walter White. I knew how it ended.

A few years ago my wife and I were looking for something to watch on Netflix and settled on Breaking Bad. We slugged through the first couple of episodes as the characters were introduced and by the fourth or so episode, my wife and I were both completely hooked. We'd watch 3-4 episodes at once.

I had never seen anything on TV like this before.

Two things happened for me, Mythbusters kept testing if things done in the show were true, which made me quite curious, then I learned it’s was available in 4k resolution....and I’d just bought a 4k TV. So I started watching.

I binged. Being able immediately see “what happens next” was what kept me watching. If I’d had to wait a week I might have lost interest.

Best show ever.

If you want another really great series, try Better Call Saul, the prequel to Breaking Bad. It covers the transition of sleazy, ambitious, failing young lawyer Jimmy McGill into sleazy, ambitious, successful, and increasingly criminal lawyer Saul Goodman. Saul is the lawyer Walter White retains for legal and money laundering advice. The character development in Better Call Saul is even better than in Breaking Bad.

I watched the entire series in a two and a half week binger. It was so good that I just couldn’t stop. It did not surpass my all time favorite which is “The Sopranos” but it is right up there on my list. I thought they did a great job wrapping up the series. The last few episodes were masterful.

We just started watching the series “Fargo” on Hulu. I highly recommend it. It has been excellent so far.
