We have Exede satellite providing Internet service. For the last 2 months they say we have used up our 10GB data allowance in 3 days or less. This month we used it all up in less than 24 hours. We streamed a one hour serial show on low resolution on our LG smart tv, and used the Internet for email. I also spent an hour or two on FR. Exede claimed we had used the entire 10GB. We've had this service for 1.5 years and our online behavior has not changed. This location is a getaway home and we visit for 5-6 days a month. Exede claims the recent data drain is due to storage backup activity but cannot specify what that activity is. Since our behavior has not changed. Why are we running out of 10GB so quickly?

I have my computer set to metered connection and I also downloaded a program called Microsoft Mini Tool. It will check for updates and allows me to pick and choose the updates I want and ignore others. Which Windows 10 will not let you do, it downloads all of them, whether you want them to or not.
Cell phones doing backups?
I’m not sure, but my wife may have wifi calling enabled.
Generally it would work out fine as our DSL lines are only throttled by the instantaneous data rate limit.
It would save on the (low) 3rd party cell phone account monthly data limit, so I may have had her turn it on, if available.
Yes, we have fixed that. Thank you Mr. Toad.
I will check it Mr. Smith. Thank you
