From what I have read elsewhere, in testing the HK416/M27 had 233 stoppages for 60,000 rounds.
The M4 on the other hand had over 800 stoppages for 60,000 rounds.
Minimum retraining, don't you know. Imagine the chaos getting these kids to properly use a M14!
I would guess not too much. ARs work and have for 50 years. Why change what you don’t have too? I know the gas system is different but I would guess other parts are not too different. Wikipedia says the gas system is the biggest difference between the two.
Think I have an old American Rifleman with an article about it. Somewhere.........
Read a book called “No True Glory” about the battle in Fallujah, and a SAW gunner got killed in a house, and his gun disappeared and was in the hands of insurgents inside they building they had to take.
The Marines were pretty nervous about going up against a SAW taken by the enemy...they know what the thing can do even with those drawbacks.
Looks complicated.
I’d hate to have to disassemble and clean it in the middle of a firefight...............
“not made in USA” should be deal breaker. Parts access is always mission critical.
